AC Hotel by Marriott Los Angeles South Bay

We were able to stay at the brand new AC Hotel by Marriott Los Angeles South Bay. It was brand new as it first opened to the public in July 2019 and a great option if you need to stay near LAX.

As soon as we walked in, we were impressed by the chic and trendy design. The staff was so professional yet so warm. Every time we came and went from the lobby, we received a friendly greeting. We got our room right away even though we were before the check-in time.

The Room

We loved the room. It was super modern, brand new and spotless. The room, designed with warm tones, was crisp, simple, and neat. The room was super spacious and functional. Ample countertops and shelves are much needed yet rare in most hotels, but this hotel had room for all belongings. A bench almost as long as the room that was handy for all our luggage. There was also a large windowsill, which allowed me to spread out my stuff to reorganize. There was even more room in a practically designed closet area with lots of shelves, drawers, and hanging space.
The bathroom was bright with it’s a backlit full-length mirror. The shower had both a rain shower and handheld.

The Amenities

There is plenty of room in their self-parking lot, but you can also use their valet service.
I used their brand new gym twice, which had excellent equipment and was very spacious. The gym offered fresh towels and a modern water tap. They even new earphones to take, which was very thoughtful!
The hotel had “hydration stations,” which were a modern take on water and ice machines that had refillable water bottles.
We checked out their beautiful rooftop area, which also serves as their garden — lots of seating area with booths and an extended bar area that also had a fireplace. Their new rooftop bar, Flora, wasn’t open to the public at the time we visited but is opens September 2019. It looked like a guaranteed good time.

The Food

The AC Kitchen & Lounge was extremely eye-catching every time we walked into the hotel. It had an indoor and outdoor seating area, with a breathtakingly designed bar. The decor also included chic couches and water fountains. We had a light dinner before heading out to birthday celebrations. We were served by the friendliest staff member, Edgar, who gave us recommendations on where to go in Santa Monica. They served tapas, small sharing plates, during the evening, and handcrafted cocktails. All the food was delicious, especially the steak.

The Location

The hotel’s location was right next to the airport. Even though it was only 10 mins away, it was tucked away into a small street. We never heard an airplane. It was on a super quiet street with barely any cars on the weekend. Being close to the airport also means it was near Venice Beach and Santa Monica; about a 20 min drive. The closest beach was Manhattan Beach at only 10 mins away. There are many fast-food chains a few mins away on Hwy 1. It was a great location because it had almost around but felt it was away from all the hustle and bustle.

For the first time in a while, I had felt completely comfortable staying at the hotel. It was a great feeling that everything was brand new. The AC Hotel by Marriott Los Angeles South Bay truly designed everything to make their guests feel at home. From the large bench and countertops in the room, so we can unpack with ease, to the free unlimited water at the hydration stations, to the genuinely friendly staff who all seemed to love to be a part of this establishment, we were so content we didn’t want to leave. We highly recommend the AC Hotel by Marriott Los Angeles South Bay for your next trip to Los Angeles. We will be back!
