Luxury in the Heart of Rome: Anantara Palazzo Naiadi

Location

We saved the best for last on our three-week trip in Italy and stayed at the Anantara Palazzo Naiadi in Rome. They had the best location at the Piazza Della Repubblica. It’s a beautiful circular piazza centering the Fountain of the Naiads. In Piazza Della Repubblica, all forms of transportation can be accessed. Roma Termini is only a 5-minute walk and we were able to catch almost all buses from here. Using the metro in Rome was our preferred way to get around and the best part was having access to the metro stop, Repubblica, steps from the hotel entrance.

Room

It was the first time we felt like we were staying in a palace. The rooms had decorated high ceilings and carpeted floors. The furniture was elegant and unique. We were impressed with the room’s spaciousness and openness, something hard to find in a city like Rome. Our balcony faced the famous Piazza through a large window/door. We could see the sunrise and the city come to life right from our large and very comfortable bed.

Marble covered the entire bathroom. It had a full-sized shower and a separate bathtub. We loved the oversized vanity with two sinks which had so much storage for our items. Our favorite was all the aromatic bathroom amenities by Acqua di Parma.

Their turndown service was exceptional, as they placed our slippers and mats on our beds, as well as in the bathroom, and made sure we had water on our side tables. We loved the extra touch of spraying lavender scent to help with falling asleep. After a day spent walking around in the rain, it felt so relaxing.

Restaurants

We were lucky to have a multi-course meal at Tazio Restaurant, located on the main floor of the Hotel. It was a calming atmosphere with excellent service. A beautiful emerald box containing olive oil was brought out on a trolley all by itself. It was called Harvest by Night by Castello Monte Vibiano and it was one of the best olive oils we had ever tasted.

Every dish was plated beautifully and tasted fresh and delightful. We were surprised by the numerous dessert courses, with one of our favorites looking like a cigar on a tray. The dishes were thoughtful, delicious, and creative.

We thoroughly enjoyed breakfast at La Fontana Restaurant each morning. It was a buffet style which endless options of eggs, bacon, sausages as well as healthier options of greek yogurt and fruits. They also had mini Monte Vibiano olive oil and balsamic vinegar bottles to enjoy with your meal. Staff helped in serving fresh espressos and americanos as well as fresh juices. The room is bright and welcoming with a great view of the Piazza outside.

Spa & Gym

Some of the pandemic-related policies end up being not too shabby. One of them is that to use the gym, we had to book in advance for an hour at a time but for that hour, you have the whole gym to yourself. Most mornings were all booked up but afternoons and evenings are usually free. The gym had all the equipment we needed with two different racks of dumbbells and new machines.

It also had a view of the Piazza Della Repubblica, which was nice to hear all the cars passing by as I worked out. The spa staff was super friendly, always making sure we had everything we needed.

Human and Tech Service

The Anantara has both a human touch to their service as well as bringing modern technology to help with our stay. Upon checking in they gave us a QR code which directed us to download their app. With a couple of swipes, we could request room service or request more towels, water, or endless more amenities. The app also had all information about their restaurants, spa treatments, and more. It was a new, fresh way to help navigate this great property.

All the staff was extremely welcoming and friendly with a smile on their faces. The concierge was especially helpful. We received a friendly welcome message through Whatsapp from their concierge to message them if we needed anything at all. Whenever I needed assistance finding a store or restaurant, it was far easier to send a text message rather than stop by their desk. It was so convenient to be able to text them our negative COVID test results to print out before we left!

Both the appeal of the elegant architecture and the unique location of the hotel as well as the creative touches such as being able to use a mobile app and communicate with the concierge contributed to the perfection of our experience at Anantara. The hotel was so comfortable and lovely, it was hard for us to want to leave!
